Octane Renderer – New GPU-based rendering engine

This is a cool new unbiased renderer that uses GPU power instead of the usual CPU. We know how sickeningly show unbiased renderers can be despite their excellent rendering outputs. Technically-speaking, a GPU-based rendering engine should result in faster render times when compared to one that uses the conventional CPU-reliance method.

Check out the video below to know more about it.

Looking at the current developments in the area 3D visualisation, it seems like the direction is going towards technologies that increase rendering speed. Octane Renderer is certainly not the only player in the field. Other systems includes Furryball which is a realtime GPU renderer for Maya, and Arion which is a hybrid-accelerated rendering system. Even open source programs such as Luxrender seems to be jumping on the bandwagon as well.
