Most of the Industrial Design-related projects are not been displayed on this website. This is due mainly to confidentiality issues.

As a general note, Studiorola is able to undertake projects related to the following phases of the design development process:

1. Concept Development. Ideation and conceptual development.

2. Product Visualisation. 2D or 3D rendering and animation of concepts. Studiorola uses advanced global illumination for photorealistic 3D rendering.

3. Technical surfacing for data transfer and downstream. Create and output downstream-ready 3D files to IGES, STEP and/or STL format. Rhinoceros 3D CAID software is the main tool in the studio.

Sleek Plus Kettle

This is a Product Design project that was done in the late 1990s.

The project calls for the redesign of an existing kettle. Some of the internal elements were to be retained while the outer form needed a new look to re-address a different market group.

For this project, CAD modeling was done using Rhinoceros 3D and Pro/Engineer. Technical surfacing was done mainly on Rhinoceros 3D. The completed surfaces were then imported into Pro/Engineer for parts, assembly and 2D associative technical drawing creation.

Liberator – product for the Aged Traveller

This is a Conceptual Project done in the 1990s. It is meant to be a small product for assisting aged travellers or elderly persons on the move. The product aims to be small and un-intrusive, yet intuitive enough for easy operation.

The project was featured in a Chinese-language Newspaper (as shown below)

The photo below showed me presenting the product concept to the Minister (now Deputy Prime Minister) during an exhibition.

Motor Bike Helmet

This Motor Bike Helmet project is for a well-known European company.

This concept was part of a project which eventually won a Red Dot Design Award. The Red dot design award is a coveted and internationally recognised product design prize.

This concept rendering was created using Photoshop from an initial manual pencil sketch.

Aluminiq Wine Rack

This project was done while I was working with the Productivity and Standards Board (IDPDC, now known as Xentiq). The client was AEI.

The design brief called for the creative ideation and design of products using the process of aluminium extrusion.

What I have designed was a single extrusion profile that is the basis of the wine rack. Basically, the whole design is just this! However, the design catered for modularity and future expansion. You can add as many pieces of the singular unit as you like and each piece will interlock with the adjacent pieces.

The Aluminiq wine rack appeared in several publications. It was also featured during Singapore Design Award 2002 and appeared in its publication.
